Anchorage 04:27
Been staying out late Pockets full of gold And the sun don’t set around here This time of year In Anchorage Been sleeping in Blood full of oil And this buzz is fading fast These mornings never last In Anchorage Haven’t told you I love you in six long months The way you duck my gaze says it’s not long enough Well, I’ll just keep on biting my tongue If these nights don’t kill me, might be done in by love Been wearing thin Throat full of dust Nine AM finds you in my bed Golden hair and restful breath In Anchorage Chorus Been fading out Heart full of rust By midday you’re gone Radio playing empty songs In Anchorage Chorus

Summer 03:18
I’ve been working on getting stronger Getting out what I’ve been keeping in Focused on my visions of tomorrow But I’m not sure just where to begin I’ve been working on getting louder Speaking out what I’ve been thinking Painting my dreams in technicolor But I don’t know where they end Come this summer, I’m leaving But I know one thing is true Don’t want to be leaving, if I’m leaving without you I don’t want to be leaving, if I’m leaving without you I’ve been pinching myself on the daily Asking if this can be real I’ve been readin those notes that you’ve been leaving me Trying to forge some nerves of steel And I’ve been thinking about what you said When I asked you to come with me You said, “darlin don’t be foolish there’s no place I’d rather be Come this summer, I’m leaving But I got nothing to lose ‘Cause I’m leaving, but I’m leaving with you I’m leaving, but I’m leaving with you Come this summer, I’m leaving But I got nothing to prove ‘Cause I’m leaving, but I’m leaving with you I’m leaving, but I’m leaving with you

Marshall 04:42
I’m watching the ripples, they’re guiding me home The color of the water, reminds me of a poem Paddles cut through the sun like a knife Marshall keeps saying these are the days of your life Camps set up, it’s time for a swim The closer to nature, the further from sin But I can’t stop watching the water on her skin The closer to nature, the closer to sin Chorus: Fuzzy navels on the side of the shore And the kids are screaming out for just one more Float, before the sun goes down And love is all around The fire’s casting shadows, it’s making amber pools Sticky little mosquito, always acting a fool The wind’s whispering, says there’s ghosts in the woods Scared shitless but toether, fear never felt this good Chorus I’m walking up to you, you’re just sitting on the shore I stop and ask if we can talk a little more You know, it’s been three weeks since your skin has touched my lips I’m leaning in close, just hoping for a kiss But you’re walking away Chorus

Home 04:48
Found myself under a Tennessee sky And it asked me, “What are you doing here?” Shrugging shoulders was my only reply So it had some thoughts to share Chorus: Home, just head on home Put the stars to your back, and the sun in your eyes Home, just head on home You’ve been gon long enough and you’re in for a surprise When you get home Found myself under a Louisiana oak And it asked me, “What’d you expect to find?” A new place to call my own And give me a little piece of mind Chorus Found myself beside a Texas spring And it asked me, just who I thought I was A lost child in the skin of a man; All alone and looking for some love Chorus
5.
Gale 03:40
I’ll hold the sun for you Till you return And I’ll sing this song for you As the lanterns burn Chorus: Sometimes you gotta alk through the dark Sometimes you gotta work with a broken heart Sometimes the only way of knowing, is watching it all fall apart Sometimes you gotta walk through the dark And I’ve had the faithless few Drag me down Yes I’ve been drowning too Without a soul around Chorus Bridge: Day is breaking, night’s veil is wearing thin The path is growing bright, hope is kicking in When the sun goes down, you’ll know where you’ve been Cut your teeth against the night again Chorus
6.
Ode 05:18
I’ve been swimming in the sea Sharks and squids down beneath But I can’t get too deep Unless you’re diving next to me I’ve been talking to the trees Reading fortunes in their leaves But someday they’ll turn dust Their roots don’t run as deep as us I’ve been counting all the stars I’ve been wishing on them too But they don’t shine as bright No, they don’t shine as bright as you

about

Note to self:

You are on the verge of returning home. To one of your homes at least, and this time it’s not just for a visit. It is the home you consider “The Home.” The city you grew up in. The city that saw the first twenty-five years of your life. The city that you were dedicated to making the center of the Universe. The city that saw your bright-eyed youth, your awkward middle school years, a coming into yourself, college, hustle, work, partying, first kisses, final moments, masterful triumphs, devastating mistakes. A home that responded with forgiveness, understanding, and support.

This home is your sacred geography. The land and climate is written on your DNA. The history of this place and all of its people flows in your blood. The fog in the fir tops cradles you in its embrace. What good will you do for this home? How do you return different? You want to show up different. To return wiser, more capable, more desired. But you are afraid too. Afraid the cold wetness will drag you back to an old you, a truer you that you thought you outsmarted, out grew, but has been waiting in the wings to take the spotlight once again…

But it will not. You have grown. You are wiser. You are more capable, and at the end of the day you are enough. You have put in the work. You have come too far to backslide. Things will never be the same. Change is to be expected and prepared for. Your home has changed too. It will recognize its reflection in you, but it also hungers for your acceptance in its new form. Open your heart to it and the people and places that make it up. Let go of your preconceived notions and allow it to be. Treat it with love.

Yes, you are on the verge of going home. Yes, you have changed. Yes, it has changed. Embrace it wholly. Allow yourself and your new home to be enough for eachother. You have a lot of catching up to do.
